1. The Call to Evangelism

1.1 The Great Commission

Verses: Matthew 28:18-20
  • Jesus' command to go and make disciples of all nations.
  • Baptizing them in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • Teaching them to observe all things that He has commanded.

1.2 Being a Witness

Verses: Acts 1:8
  • Receiving power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
  • Being a witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

2. Methods of Evangelism

2.1 Sharing Your Testimony

Verses: Revelation 12:11
  • Overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.
  • Not loving your life to the death; being willing to share your story even in the face of adversity.

2.2 Preaching the Word

Verses: 2 Timothy 4:2
  • Being ready in season and out of season.
  • Reproving, rebuking, and exhorting with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2.3 Using Scripture

Verses: Hebrews 4:12
  • The Word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.
  • Piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

3. The Attitude of an Evangelist

3.1 Love and Compassion

Verses: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
  • Speaking with the tongues of men and angels, but having not love, it is just a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
  • Love is patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not arrogant.

3.2 Humility

Verses: Philippians 2:3-4
  • Doing nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
  • Looking not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

4. The Message to Proclaim

4.1 Repentance

Verses: Acts 2:38
  • Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • And ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

4.2 Water Baptism

Verses: Acts 10:48
  • He commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
  • Baptism is an act of obedience and identification with Christ.

4.3 The Holy Spirit

Verses: Acts 19:6
  • And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
  • The Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father.
