1. The Singular God

1.1 One God, Manifest in Different Ways

Verses: Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 9:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19
  • Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
  • The fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Jesus Christ.
  • God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.

1.2 The Divine Name

Verses: Matthew 1:21; Acts 2:38; John 5:43
  • Jesus, the manifested name of God, saves His people from their sins.
  • Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not.

2. The Significance of Water Baptism

2.1 Baptism as Identification

Verses: Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12
  • Baptism symbolizes our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ.
  • As many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
  • Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him.

2.2 Baptism for the Remission of Sins

Verses: Acts 2:38; Acts 10:48; Acts 22:16
  • Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • He commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
  • Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

3. The Gift of the Holy Spirit

3.1 The Promise of the Spirit

Verses: Acts 1:4-5; Acts 2:38-39; John 14:16-17
  • Wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
  • The promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off.
  • He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.

3.2 Speaking in Tongues as Initial Evidence

Verses: Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6
  • They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues.
  • On the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues.
  • They spake with tongues, and prophesied.

4. Living a Life of Holiness

4.1 Separation from the World

Verses: 2 Corinthians 6:17; 1 John 2:15-16; Romans 12:2
  • Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord.
  • Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
  • Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed.

4.2 Pursuing Righteousness

Verses: Matthew 5:6; 1 Timothy 6:11; Hebrews 12:14
  • Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
  • Follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
  • Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
