Freedom from Condemnation

This study explores the profound truth of no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, examining its divine origin, the path to experiencing it, and how to live a life free from guilt and accusation.

1. The Foundation of No Condemnation

1.1 God's Love and Mercy

Verses: John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:4-5
  • God's ultimate desire is not to condemn but to save humanity through His boundless love.
  • Even while we were in sin, God demonstrated His love by providing a way of salvation.
  • Our salvation is a gift of grace, rooted in God's rich mercy, not our own merit.

1.2 Jesus' Atoning Work

Verses: Romans 8:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 9:26
  • God, manifest in the flesh as Jesus, came to condemn sin in the flesh, not the sinner.
  • Jesus bore our sins, becoming sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
  • Through His sacrifice, Jesus put away sin, offering a complete and final redemption.

1.3 The Fullness of God in Christ

Verses: Colossians 2:9; Isaiah 9:6; John 14:9
  • In Jesus Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, revealing the one true God.
  • He is the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace, showing the singular identity of God.
  • To see Jesus is to see the Father, as He fully represents and embodies the divine nature.

2. Entering into No Condemnation

2.1 Repentance and Faith

Verses: Acts 2:38a; Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21
  • Repentance involves a change of mind and heart, turning away from sin and towards God.
  • Faith is essential, believing in Jesus as the Savior and the one true God.
  • Both repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus are foundational for salvation.

2.2 Water Baptism in Jesus' Name

Verses: Acts 2:38b; Acts 8:16; Acts 19:5
  • Baptism in water in the name of Jesus Christ is for the remission of sins.
  • This act identifies us with His death, burial, and resurrection, washing away past transgressions.
  • It is an essential step of obedience, signifying our new covenant relationship with God.

2.3 Receiving the Spirit

Verses: Acts 2:38c; Acts 10:44-46; Galatians 3:27
  • The promise of the Holy Spirit is for all who repent and are baptized.
  • Receiving the Spirit empowers believers to live a new life and walk in God's will.
  • Through the Spirit, we are clothed with Christ, signifying our spiritual union and adoption.

3. Walking in No Condemnation

3.1 Living by the Spirit

Verses: Romans 8:1-2; Galatians 5:16; Romans 8:13
  • There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.
  • Walking in the Spirit means yielding to His guidance and power daily, overcoming fleshly desires.
  • By the Spirit, we are enabled to put to death the deeds of the body, experiencing true freedom.

3.2 For-giveness and Grace

Verses: 1 John 1:9; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:13-14
  • When we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • Through the blood of Jesus, we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
  • We have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son.

3.3 Overcoming Accusation

Verses: Romans 8:33-34; Revelation 12:10-11; Zechariah 3:1-5
  • No one can bring a charge against God's elect, for God Himself justifies us through Christ.
  • We overcome the accuser by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
  • God removes our filthy garments and clothes us with clean raiment, silencing all condemnation.

4. The Assurance of No Condemnation

4.1 God's Faithfulness
