God is Love

An exploration of the nature of God as love, how that love is expressed, and how we are called to respond to it.

1. The Divine Nature: Love Defined

1.1 God's Intrinsic Love

  • Love is not merely an attribute of God; it is the very essence of His being.
  • God's actions are always motivated by love, reflecting His inherent nature.
  • Understanding God's love is fundamental to understanding His character.

  • The act of creation itself was an expression of God's love, bringing forth life and beauty.
  • The intricate design of the universe reveals God's care and provision for His creation.
  • Humanity, created in God's image, is a testament to His love and desire for relationship.

2. The Expression of Love: Redemption Through Christ

2.1 The Sacrifice of Jesus

  • The ultimate demonstration of God's love is the giving of His Son, Jesus, for the salvation of humanity.
  • Jesus' death on the cross was a voluntary act of love, bearing the penalty for our sins.

  • The Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts to believers for the edification of the church and the demonstration of God's love.

4. Living in Love: Our Response to God's Love
