1. The Blessed Person's Character

1.1 Avoiding Ungodly Influence

  • The blessed person actively avoids ungodly counsel.
  • They do not stand in the way of sinners, passively accepting their influence.
  • They do not sit in the seat of mockers, openly scorning what is holy.

2. The Blessed Person's Delight

2.1 Delighting in God's Word

Verses: Psalm 1:2
  • Their delight is in the law of the Lord, finding joy and satisfaction in God's word.
  • They meditate on God's word day and night, constantly reflecting on its meaning and application.

3. The Blessed Person's Prosperity

3.1 Bearing Fruit

Verses: Psalm 1:3
  • They are like a tree planted by rivers of water, deeply rooted and constantly nourished.
  • They bring forth fruit in their season, demonstrating the positive impact of their relationship with God.
  • Their leaf also shall not wither, symbolizing their enduring strength and vitality.

4. The Wicked's Character

4.1 Lacking Substance

Verses: Psalm 1:4
  • The wicked are not so, lacking the stability and fruitfulness of the righteous.
  • They are like the chaff which the wind drives away, easily scattered and without substance.

5. The Wicked's Destiny

5.1 Exclusion from God's Presence

Verses: Psalm 1:5
  • The wicked will not stand in the judgment, unable to withstand God's scrutiny.
  • Sinners will not be in the congregation of the righteous, excluded from God's fellowship.

6. The Lord's Knowledge

6.1 Two Distinct Paths

  • The Lord knows the way of the righteous, intimately aware of their path and providing guidance.
  • The way of the ungodly shall perish, leading to destruction and eternal separation from God.
