Understanding the Divine Word (Logos)
This study explores the concept of the "Logos" or "Word" as presented in scripture, focusing on its eternal nature, its role in creation, and its ultimate manifestation in Jesus Christ.
1. The Eternal Nature of the Word
1.1 The Word as God's Inherent Thought and Wisdom
Verses: John 1:1; Proverbs 8:22-30; Isaiah 55:11
- Before creation, the Word was not a separate person, but the divine mind and wisdom of God.
- It represents God's eternal plan, purpose, and self-expression.
- The Word was "with God" in the sense of being intrinsic to God's very being.
1.2 The Word as the Blueprint for Creation
Verses: Psalm 33:6; Hebrews 11:3
- All things were conceived in the divine Word before they were brought into existence.
- The Word is the intelligent design and order inherent in the universe.

- The Word is the active power and command of God.
- Through His Word, God brought forth all that exists from nothing.
2.2 The Word as the Sustaining Power of God
Verses: Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3
- The same Word that created also upholds and sustains all things.
- God's Word is not just a past event but an ongoing force.
- The universe continues to exist by the power of His divine utterance.

- Jesus is the visible manifestation of the invisible God.
3.2 Jesus as the Fullness of God
Verses: Colossians 2:9; Isaiah 9:6
- In Jesus Christ, the entire essence and nature of God dwells bodily.
- He is not merely a representative of God, but God Himself revealed.
- All the attributes and power of the Godhead are found in Him.
3.3 The Purpose of the Incarnate Word
Verses: John 1:18; Hebrews 1:1-2
- God became flesh to reveal Himself fully to humanity.
- Through Jesus, we see and understand the one true God.
- The Word made flesh came to redeem and reconcile humanity to God.
4. Jesus Christ: The Living Word
4.1 Jesus as the Ultimate Revelation of God
