1. The Singular God

1.1 One God, Manifest in Different Ways

  • The Lord our God is one Lord.
  • God revealed Himself as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in empowering.
  • God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.

1.2 The Name of God

  • Jesus is the manifested name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Baptism is to be administered in the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Repentance: Turning to God

2.1 A Change of Heart and Mind

Verses: Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 7:10
  • Repentance involves a turning away from sin.
  • It is a godly sorrow that leads to a change of life.

2.2 Confession and Forsaking Sin

Verses: Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:9
  • Confessing and forsaking sin is essential for receiving mercy.
  • God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins when we confess them.

3. Water Baptism: Identification with Christ

3.1 Baptism by Immersion

  • Baptism symbolizes burial with Christ and resurrection to new life.
  • Immersion represents complete cleansing and new birth.

3.2 Baptism in Jesus' Name

Verses: Acts 2:38; Acts 10:48
  • Baptism is to be administered in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • The apostles consistently baptized new believers in Jesus' name.

4. The Holy Spirit: Empowerment for Life

4.1 The Promise of the Father

  • The Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father.
  • It is for all who believe and obey.

4.2 Speaking in Other Tongues

  • Speaking in other tongues is the initial physical evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit.
  • It is a supernatural utterance given by the Spirit.

5. Living a Life of Faith

5.1 Obedience to God's Word

  • Love for God is demonstrated through obedience to His commandments.
  • Walking as Jesus walked is a mark of true discipleship.

5.2 Perseverance and Endurance

  • Enduring to the end is necessary for salvation.
  • Patience is required to receive what God has promised.
