1. Understanding the One True God

1.1 The Uniqueness of God

Verses: Isaiah 43:10-11; Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 2:5
  • There is only one eternal, all-powerful, and all-knowing God.
  • He is the sole Creator and Sustainer of all things.
  • Our worship and devotion are due to Him alone, for there is no other.

1.2 God Revealed in Christ

Verses: John 14:8-9; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16
  • The invisible God made Himself visible and knowable in the person of Jesus Christ.
  • In Jesus, the complete essence and attributes of God dwell bodily.
  • Jesus is not merely a prophet or a part of God, but God Himself manifested in flesh.

1.3 The Spirit of God

Verses: John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Romans 8:9-11
  • God is Spirit, and His Spirit is His active presence and power.
  • The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the one God, the Spirit of Christ, working within believers.
  • This Spirit guides, empowers, and transforms us into His likeness.

1.4 Jesus: Lord and Savior

Verses: Philippians 2:9-11; Acts 2:36; Romans 10:9
  • God has highly exalted Jesus, giving Him a name above every name.
  • Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
  • Believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior is essential for salvation and a transformed life.

2. The New Birth Experience

2.1 Repentance and Faith

Verses: Acts 2:38; Mark 1:15; Luke 13:3
  • Acknowledge sin and turn away from it, committing to God's way.
  • Believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, trusting in His atoning work.
  • This is the foundational step for a new life in God, a change of mind and heart.

2.2 Water Baptism in His Name

Verses: Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 19:5; Colossians 2:12
  • An essential act of obedience, symbolizing burial of the old self and resurrection to new life.
  • Administered by immersion in water, calling on the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • This act identifies the believer with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, washing away sins.

2.3 Receiving the Spirit

Verses: Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6; Galatians 3:27
  • The infilling of the Holy Spirit is a distinct experience subsequent to water baptism.
  • Evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
  • Empowers believers for service, witness, and a life of holiness, sealing them in Christ.

3. Living a Transformed Life

3.1 Separation from the World

Verses: 2 Corinthians 6:17; Romans 12:2; 1 John 2:15-17
  • Living a life distinct from the values, practices, and desires of the ungodly world.
  • Choosing to align with God's standards rather than cultural norms and worldly influences.
  • Being in the world but not of the world, reflecting Christ's character and light.

3.2 Holiness and Righteousness

Verses: 1 Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:14; Ephesians 4:24
  • Striving for purity in thought, word, and deed, as God Himself is holy.

  • The indwelling Spirit provides strength to overcome temptation and live victoriously.
  • Believers are equipped with divine ability to fulfill God's purpose and overcome challenges.
  • This power enables us to walk in love, joy, peace, and self-control, bearing spiritual fruit.

3.4 The Authority of His Name

Verses: Acts 3:6; Philippians 2:9-11; Mark 16:17-18
  • The name of Jesus carries all authority in heaven and on earth, above every other name.
  • Believers are given the right to use His name to accomplish His will and demonstrate His power.
  • Through His name, we can experience healing, deliverance, and victory over spiritual opposition.
