1. The Promise of a New Covenant

1.1 A Covenant Unlike the Old

  • The old covenant, established at Sinai, was broken by the people.
  • This new covenant will be different in its nature and effectiveness.

1.2 God's Initiative

Verses: Jeremiah 31:31; Ephesians 2:8-9
  • The Lord declares, 'I will make a new covenant'.
  • This highlights God's grace and proactive role in salvation.

2. The Inward Law

2.1 Written on the Heart

Verses: Jeremiah 31:33; 2 Corinthians 3:3
  • The law will no longer be external but internal, written on their hearts.
  • This signifies a deeper, more personal relationship with God.

2.2 Transformation of the Inner Man

Verses: Romans 2:29; Romans 12:2
  • The law within leads to a transformation of the inner man.
  • This results in obedience and a desire to please God.

3. Universal Knowledge of God

3.1 No Need for External Teaching

  • They will all know Him intimately.

3.2 Direct Relationship with God

4. Forgiveness of Sins

4.1 God's Mercy and Grace

  • The new covenant is established on the foundation of God's forgiveness.
  • He will remember their sins no more.

4.2 The Blood of Jesus

Verses: Acts 2:38; 1 John 1:7
  • Forgiveness is made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus.
  • His blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
