1. Receiving the Holy Spirit

  • Water baptism by immersion is essential for obedience to the Word of God.
  • It is an outward demonstration of an inward change.
  • It is to be administered in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

2. Gifts of the Spirit

  • The Spirit distributes gifts to believers as He wills.
  • These gifts are for the edification of the church.

  • Believers should earnestly desire the best gifts.
  • Prophecy is highlighted for its edifying nature.
  • All gifts should be used in order and with understanding.

3. The Fruit of the Spirit

3.1 Love

  • Love is the first and foremost fruit of the Spirit.
  • It is the foundation for all other virtues.
  • It reflects the nature of God.

3.2 Joy and Peace

  • Joy is a deep-seated gladness that transcends circumstances.
  • Peace is a state of tranquility and wholeness.
  • These fruits are evidence of the Spirit's presence in our lives.

3.3 Patience, Kindness, and Goodness

  • Patience is the ability to endure hardship with grace.
  • Kindness is showing compassion and care for others.
  • Goodness is moral excellence and integrity.

3.4 Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control

  • Faithfulness is loyalty and trustworthiness.
  • Gentleness is meekness and humility.
  • Self-control is the ability to restrain one's desires and impulses.

4. The Spirit's Role in the Believer's Life

4.1 The Spirit as Comforter and Guide

  • The Spirit is sent to be our Comforter, abiding with us always.
  • The Spirit teaches us all things and brings remembrance of Jesus' words.

  • The Spirit helps us in our weakness, interceding for us with groanings.
  • The Spirit knows the mind of God and intercedes according to His will.
  • Our prayers are empowered by the Spirit's intercession.
