1. The Nature of Pride
1.1 Pride as Self-Exaltation

- Pride elevates oneself above others and, ultimately, above God.
- It is rooted in a distorted view of one's own importance and abilities.
1.2 Pride as Independence from God
Verses: Romans 1:21; James 4:6
- Pride leads to a rejection of God's authority and a desire for self-sufficiency.
- It resists the need for grace and dependence on divine power.
2. The Consequences of Pride
2.1 Pride Leads to Destruction
Verses: Proverbs 16:18; Proverbs 29:23
- Scripture warns that pride precedes a fall and ultimate ruin.
- It blinds individuals to their own weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
2.2 Pride Hinders Spiritual Growth
Verses: 1 Peter 5:5; Psalm 25:9
- God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
- Pride prevents one from receiving instruction and correction.
2.3 Pride Causes Division
Verses: Proverbs 13:10; Galatians 5:26
- Pride breeds contention and strife among individuals and communities.
- It fosters envy and a competitive spirit.
3. Cultivating Humility
3.1 Recognizing God's Sovereignty
Verses: Psalm 46:10; Daniel 4:37
- Acknowledging that God is the ultimate authority and source of all things.
- Surrendering one's will to His divine purpose.
3.2 Embracing a Servant's Heart
Verses: Philippians 2:3-4; Matthew 20:26-28
- Prioritizing the needs of others above one's own.
- Seeking to serve and uplift those around us.
3.3 Seeking God's Grace
Verses: James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5
- Humbly acknowledging our dependence on God's mercy and favor.
- Praying for a spirit of humility and a teachable heart.
4. The Example of Jesus

- Though being in the form of God, He humbled Himself and took on the form of a servant.
- He willingly emptied Himself of divine glory for the sake of humanity.
