Understanding Temptation and God's Goodness (James 1:13-18)

1. The Nature of Temptation and Sin

1.1 God's Unblemished Character

Verses: James 1:13
  • God cannot be tempted with evil.
  • God does not tempt anyone to do evil.

1.2 The Source of Temptation

  • Temptation arises from our own desires.
  • These desires, when unchecked, lead to sin.

1.3 The Consequence of Sin

  • Sin, when fully developed, results in death.
  • This death is both spiritual and, ultimately, physical.

2.2 God's Unchanging Nature

  • His character and promises are steadfast and true.

3. God's Saving Grace

  • God chose to give us birth through the word of truth.
  • This new birth makes us a kind of firstfruits of His creation.
