1. Jesus Christ: The Fullness of the Godhead Bodily

1.1 Jesus is God Manifest in Flesh

  • The Word, who was God, became flesh and dwelt among us.
  • God Himself was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit.
  • Jesus is the visible manifestation of the invisible God.

1.2 Jesus is the Everlasting Father

  • He is prophesied as 'The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father'.
  • Jesus declared, 'I and my Father are one'.
  • To see Jesus is to see the Father, for He is in the Father and the Father in Him.

  • Whatever you ask in My Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
  • Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full, for you have asked nothing in My Name.
  • God has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow.

3. Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ

3.1 The Apostolic Practice and Command

Verses: Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:48
  • Peter commanded them to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
  • The Samaritans were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus.
  • Peter commanded the Gentiles to be baptized in the Name of the Lord.

3.2 Fulfilling the Great Commission

  • The singular 'Name' in Matthew 28:19 refers to the Name of Jesus, as demonstrated by apostolic practice.
  • Repentance and remission of sins are to be preached in His Name.
  • Those who had only been baptized unto John's baptism were re-baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

3.3 Identification with Christ

  • We are baptized into His death, buried with Him, and raised to walk in newness of life.
  • As many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

4.1 Doing All in His Name

  • Jesus manifested God's Name to the men whom He gave Him out of the world.
  • He declared God's Name and will declare it, that the love with which God loved Him may be in them.
  • God has highly exalted Jesus and given Him the Name which is above every name, that all may confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
